Gunnery Sergeant Gary Mazairz escapes attainder

"A military [panel of members] on Tuesday [decided not to attaint] a Camp Pendleton Marine of a charge that he willfully violated an order by talking to a newspaper reporter about a criminal case involving a breach of classified material, officials said."

Two agents with the Naval Criminal Intelligence Service testified that Maziarz was moody. Special Agent Julie Haney described him as bipolar, and said he would be nice one day and angry another. She said when she delivered the order to Maziarz in the brig before his release, he was “very, very upset.”

It's been observed that "a largely disinterested and dismissive civilian populace, combined with aggressive, unprincipled recruiters, the marked decline in quality of the senior officer corps (disintegrating, and increasingly corrupt) and the dramatic infusion of uniformed trial lawyers into the battle space leaves the lower ranks particularly vulnerable."
