Go with God Marine!

Sergeant of Marines James Bancroft writes:

Cpl Bill Fogarty, Korean War Era, passed away Saturday Morning. His son, GySgt William Fogarty is a TWS member here. At one time, Bill Sr., Bill Jr., and a brother were all members here.

I lived in the same apartment as Bill Sr. and we spoke often of Marine things, the present war which BOTH of his sons, Bill Jr. and Terrance fought in, of Bill Jr’s future times and fun, of his Daughter, also a Marine some time ago.

That’s right, Bill Sr., had 3 kids, all Marines.

He passed away Saturday.

All Connecticut Marines , I am asking you to come honor this man and his Marine family. Search the Waterbury area newspapers, such as the Waterbury Republican for the funeral.

Bill Jr a TWS member would surely love hearing a condolence, however he is in charge of a family and arrangements, so do not expect any speedy response in the next few days.

Bill Sr. was my friend, and a fellow Marine. He was 77 or 78 years old, I forgot now. I wish I would have met his Marine sons and daughter under much happier circumstances. Their father spoke so much of his love and concern and Marine pride in them all.

He is one of the last gentlemen you will ever meet. Everyone who has met me knows I am just some dumb kid who laughs too loud and swears too much, and when someone like Cpl George Reilly stands next to me, it is clear, George Reilly is the gentleman.

When Bill Sr. stands there, it would be hard to tell which one was the gentleman, for Bill Sr. was a true gentleman.
