'Friendly Fire' pilot loses appeal


NEW ORLEANS (AP) - ...Charles Gittins, lawyer for Maj. Harry Schmidt, had argued in January to the U.S. Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals that he could not adequately defend his client without a security clearance allowing access to classified information. The motion said Schmidt is barred from discussing key classified information with Gittins because Gittins did not have the proper clearance.
