Separate and Apart

A sharp salute to Col. Will Gunn, USAF,; Maj. Michael Mori, USMC; Lt. Cmdr Charles Smith, USN; and Lt. Cmdr. Phillip Sundel, USN ~ apostate JAGs trying to focus strict scrutiny on the operation of military justice (see Jess Bravin's front page Wall Street Journal piece- March 18, 2004).

It's worth reminding readers of the paper written by
Col. Michael Gilbert some years back that
made plain the workings of military law are "totally removed from society's system of judicial protection."

It's been that way for America's soldiers and sailors for more than two centuries...why make the system any more protective or responsive to the needs of "enemy combatants?"
