The questions came yesterday as the judge and lawyers began picking a panel to hear evidence against Sgt. Gary Pittman, 40, a reservist charged with assault and dereliction of duty in the death of an Iraqi prisoner at Camp Whitehorse, a Marine-operated jail near Nasiriyah.
