Three commanders linked to the drowning case were given nonjudicial punishments for allegedly conspiring to impede a homicide investigation. Capt. Matthew Cunningham, Maj. Robert Gwinner and Lt. Col. Nathan Sassaman were punished under Article 15, which allows punishments without a court proceeding or public record.
