Academy to court-martial cadet in rape case

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — A sophomore at the Air Force Academy will be the first cadet court-martialed on rape charges since a sex-assault scandal erupted here five months ago.

DENVER (AP) - A sophomore at the Air Force Academy will be court-martialed on charges accusing him of raping a female cadet after a night of drinking, academy officials said Wednesday.

Fort Hood sergeant faces Iraq court-martial on murder charge

Sgt. Oscar Nelson was ordered last week to face a general court-martial on a charge of unpremeditated murder. He is accused of driving a Humvee erratically and too fast in the dark on May 21, causing the vehicle to crash and killing Spc. Nathaniel Caldwell Jr., 27, according to a statement from the 4th Infantry Division Mechanized, based at Fort Hood.

NEW ORLEANS - A fighter pilot who accidentally bombed Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan last year, killing four, will be tried for dereliction of duty after the Air Force set aside manslaughter and assault charges.
